Two games, one cutscene

When a quest scene plays, it plays in every game in the party. Each has the same scene, with the same lines at the same moments. The mod also passes on what NPCs say, so that a line spoken in one game is heard in the others.

Put those two together and you get the problem. The line passed on from the other game stopped the line your own game was in the middle of, and stopping it ended that step of the scene early. Voices cut each other off, subtitles vanished, and scenes ran ahead of themselves.

The fix

Skyrim Together Reborn found and fixed this in the flat game (their pull request 854), and we brought it over. A line now travels with the scene it belongs to, and a game that is playing the same scene keeps its own line and its own subtitle.

Lines said twice

While we were in there, it turned out the game says most lines twice in quick succession, and the mod sent both. In one session that was 351 lines out of 515, and every second copy restarted the line in the other game. A repeat within a second is no longer sent.

Status

Tested with the real game and our bot on one PC, on Whiterun's market scene: each line went out once, with its scene. The part where two games play the same scene at the same moment needs two real games, so it waits for our next session. It changes the network messages, so it comes in a release that everyone, the public server included, updates to together.
